The dawn of the 25th April of 1974 in Portugal was also the dawn of a new life for the country and its people.

To set you in the environment lived in 1974, before the movie we will have a chat with José Mário Leite, who was an high-school student at the time and live the day intensely - "Exciting and scary times"   April Captains (Portuguese: Capitães de Abril) is a 2000 film telling the story of the Carnation Revolution, the military coup that overthrew the fascist dictatorship (known as the Estado Novo) in Portugal on 25 April 1974. Although dramatised, the plot is closely based on the events of the revolution and many of the key characters are real - such as Captain Salgueiro Maia and Prime Minister Marcelo Caetano.
